I was quite surprised to find that this 1902 photo is by Jacques Lalaing. His photos were usually low to medium quality shots used as studies for his sculptures, but this piece can stand on its own as a work of art. And speaking of works of art, how about that beautiful specimen of a male model?

Albert's Blog II
The artist, writer, and now blogger formerly known as Albert the Gay Belgian, Part 2
It's time for another set borrowed from the pages of https://male4malesex.blogspot.com/ , an eclectic blog presented by my friend Albert the Gay Belgian, aka Coquin Belgium. If you haven't already checked it out, click on the link. Albert posts a fair amount of sexually explicit content which you won't see here, but which I know many of you will enjoy. He puts on black and white photos almost every day, and some of those are usually vintage. We start today's set, appropriately enough, with a pair of models from the studio of Anglo-Belgian sculptor Jacques Lalaing.
Thank you, Albert, for allowing me to use these images here.

Jacques Lalaing and his Models
I have finally accumulated enough pieces to do another series on Jacques Lalaing and his models.
We start with a man who must have been a favorite based on how often he shows up.
Wow!
Many of Lalaing's photo studies are not of high technical quality. After all, they were mainly intended to give shape, form, and perspective rather than artistic detail. This one, however, is quite impressively photographed. The light, the pose and the model are all exceptional.
Different angle
I posted what I believe is the same model in the same pose
from a different viewpoint in an early Lalaing set.
Favorite
This my favorite of the day because the very handsome model appears to be just relaxing rather than maintaining a pose. Of course he may be posing, but he's no less charming if so.
Interesting
I included this one because I find it interesting. Perhaps our resident life model David
will offer some commentary on the pose and its possible use.
Block
Despite the wood block the model can rest his knee on,
I get the feeling that this pose would not be easy to hold.
Model and art
Our last Lalaing model photo is one of two in my collection that feature
both the model and the incomplete work for which he is posing.

Segue Week, Day 3 - Art Models
Yesterday it was photographers and artists doing selfies, or in other words, using themselves as models. Today it's real models, starting with this model who worked for Anglo-Belgian sculptor Jacques Lalaing. The staff prop will show up again later today.

Lalaing
Jacques Lalaing is credited for this lovely in the studio photo of a model. It has the longest
descriptive caption of any image on the CD, that being: "Jacques de Lalaing (1858-1917)
Estudio de un desnudo masculino, 1900, grabado en plata, Galerie LumiĂšre des Roses 2"

Lalaing Studies
I was trying to put together a double feature for tomorrow's Friday art series centered on the work of Anglo-Belgian sculptor Jacques Lalaing. I discovered, however, that while he used dozens of nude studies of male models in his work, he only made one or two sculptures of such . . . and they aren't that exciting from the perspective of my viewers. So, I'll just post some of the photos and find something else for the art series. We start with an awkward pose that accentuates a key element.
Different type
While the model who appears in the great majority of the Lalaing studies is amazing,
I find this model of a different type and style to be enjoyable, too.
Scaling grid
A helpful viewer let me know a couple of years ago that the grid lines used on this photo were for the purpose of increasing the scale of the subject for oversized projects. I'm enjoying the comparative clarity of this photo as opposed to most of what we have from Lalaing's studies.
The more I look at it . . .
At first glance, my reaction to this one was "Mehhh." The more I've looked at it, however,
the more I've come to like it. I can't wait for our life model David to comment.
Grainy, but nice
The clarity of this photo leaves a lot to be desired,
but the stance and form of the model are still nice.
