Jon Arnt

This promotional piece by Jon Arnt is one of the very few of his works in my collection that I have not posted.  I keep looking for more of his fine work without success.  The model is Don Erdahl.

Arnt

Our last image from a lesser known photographer is by John Arnt of Seattle.  In this case the reason that the artist is little known is that there is so very little of his outstanding work extant.
I have only a few over 20 photos in my entire Arnt collection.

Walt Cummings by Arnt

Although John (sometimes shown as Jon) Arnt was active into the 1950s,
this photo of Walt Cummings has been dated to the late 40s.

Unknown by John Arnt

I've mentioned several times that John Arnt of Seattle is a photographer whose work
I would like to see a lot more of.  This seated model on a column is a good example.

John Arnt was a talented Seattle based photographer who was active in the
late 1940's and early 50's.  I have already posted all of the full nudes and identified
models in my small Arnt collection, so I am going with this unidentified semi-nude
for today's series.  That's how small the body of Arnt's extant work is.

Paul Williams posed for John Arnt of Seattle for this photo that
not only included a classical column, but also a bust.

John Arnt of Seattle, Part 2 - Non-nudes

There are somewhat more non-nude that fully nude John Arnt photos extant today,
and fortunately many of them are of very good quality.  We start with yet another unknown model.
Bill Phillips shows off his amazing physique and a chain in this Arnt posing strap photo.
Oh, how I wish we had more photos of this guy . . . especially nudes.

Arnt photos are rare to begin with, but duos are even more so.
The unknown model at right also appears solo in today's lead-off non-nude photo.
John Curtis appeared in our nude Arnt segment today,
and he also is impressive in this gauzy posing strap.

Despite the sword, the model's face gives a romantic feel to the photo.
And the muscular development of the right arm is amazing.

John Arnt of Seattle, Part 1 - Nudes, mostly Low Hangers

John Arnt was a somewhat obscure Seattle based physique photographer whose work is pretty rarely found, even in the on line blogs.  Whether by design or blind chance, most of his nudes feature low hangers, as do four of our five offerings in today's R rated series, starting with the unknown.

It doesn't seem like the model wants to be there in this photo, and the posing of the arms is somewhat awkward, buy you low hanger fans probably won't care too much.

The tattoos don't exactly fit with the model's boyish face.

This Arnt photo of John Curtis is the only identified model in today's nude series.

The cropping of this Arnt photo is unfortunate, and I think it was done by a
vintage photo resale site that used it as a tease to sell four other photos
without offering this one.  Note the Northwest Native totem.

John Arnt of Seattle

John Arnt (1906-1982) was a Seattle based physique photographer who was active from 1947 to 1959.  For a relatively long career, his photos are rather rare.  My collection only contains about 18 images, and I have done extensive searches for more.  All of today's models are unidentified, and only five of my images have names attached.  We start with a handsome man with a staff.

Arnt's work is sprinkled with props such as swords, chains, and plaster classically themed items.

This may be my personal favorite from my small John Arnt collection.

This Arnt photo must have been popular when he distributed it because I have seen several authenticated prints of it for sale in different on line sales venues.
