Larry
Larry Carr was known to have modeled for AMG, Denny Denfield, and Kovert of Hollywood,
but I can't find an attribution for this and about three other photos.

Larry
Here we have an uncharacteristically demure shot of Larry Carr that went up for auction
recently. I might be related to Larry. We have the same surname and he looks a lot like one
of my paternal cousins, although he may have used a pseudonym. I need to research that.
Disclosure: I clumsily removed a watermark from this photo.

Larry Carr Day, Part 1 - Nudes
After some recent posts keyed to particular photographers, Larry Carr's name landed
on a list of requests for dedicated model series. I'm more than happy to oblige. He modeled
for AMG, Kovert, and Denny Denfield in the period of about 1948-1952. We start with a
typical Denfield outdoor scene involving rocks and a handsome man.
His hair was perfect
Larry Carr's wavy hair is nicely shown in this photo that is generally unattributed, but suspected by some to have been by Kovert. You'll see more on that subject in a later post, but I'm pretty much of the opinion that Kovert did all of Larry's frontal nudes except for the one by Denfield in this series.
Larry and Tom
Larry Carr and Tom Mathews look good together in this Kovert photo, but they seem to be looking right past each other. I don't know why, but a lot of 1940's duo shots are like that.
Now attributed
Most of the frontal nudes of Larry Carr in my collection have been authenticated as by Kovert of Hollywood, but this one initially had no attribution. While researching this series, I realized that the velvet seat cover and hardwood flooring appear in at least two Fred Kovert photos of other models in a group of original prints that fetched a stunning price at auction. So I'm giving the nod to Fred.
Larry Carr Day, Part 2 - Posing Straps
Larry Carr looks like a character from a sword and sandals movie in this unattributed photo.
That looks like an oversized birdbath he's standing on, but it does the job.
Larry and Dale
This is the first of two AMG photos of Larry Carr and Dale Curry together in today's series.
The otherwise idyllic scene seems odd as it looks like Larry is about to dump Dale in the water.
If you have other theories about the scenario, please tell us in the comments.
Interesting AMG
I sometimes focus on the odd bits in vintage photos. In this handsome shot of Larry Carr by Bob Mizer of AMG, he is seated on a 1950-ish round double decked end or coffee table. (My great grandmother had one like it.) His feet are resting on the ball of each foot with the heels off the floor. I think Mizer may have posed him that way to keep his legs more parallel to the floor. That would be practical if Larry weren't wearing a posing strap, as that the position would keep the crotch covered, so it must have been for some aesthetic reason. Either way, it's a great picture.
Natural
If one overlooks the posing strap, this is one of the more
natural poses by Larry Carr in my collection.

Larry Carr
Those tan lines on Larry Carr harken back to the days
when it was gauche for men's bathing suits to show navel.

After I posted a photo of the tragic Fred Chambers in my last Kovert series, someone asked to see another photo of him, so here's the only other Kovert photo I have of him. He did more work for AMG.
Edited to add: Greggy corrected me in the comments. This is Larry Carr and not Leonard Chambers. Yes, my source was so off, he didn't even get the right first name, and I was so sloppy that I didn't notice. Thanks, Greggy!

Wrestling Physique Models from the 1940's
One of my college psychology professors told the class in 1970 that professional wrestling was sublimated homosexual desire. Some in the class were shocked, and some of us gave each other knowing glances. (Guess which group I was in.) Anyway, today's theme is 1940's wrestlers, and our nude section begins with Larry Carr and Tom Matthews in the
first of two Kovert of Hollywood photos in this series.
