I should do a theme sometime on men heaving rocks.

I have a surprising number of photos of such.

Boots

This guy is wearing only boots, which is a good idea because

 they offer protection from the rocky terrain and snakes.

 

Unknown at sea cliff

The black rock makes me think of my home district on the Big Island, but this photo 

of an unknown model has been linked to a California beach backed by rocky cliffs.

Mr. Denfield used a lot of locations, and many were successful repeats.

Occasionally Denny Denfield chose to expand the frame of the photo to show off the beautiful California landscapes and seascapes.  He manages to do that here without taking anything 

away from his handsome and very well posed unknown model.

I suspect that this photo of an unknown model was made 

near the ocean, but I have no documentation of such.

There is a very fine asset on display in this shot of a guy on a rocky incline.

 

Unknown by the water

Dave Martin had a sort of trademark setting of well built nude men on or around waterside 

rocks in the Bay Area.  This shot of an unknown model is an outlier in that I don't 

recall seeing this location before, and the model is semi-reclining.

 

Gary Dexter

This location became iconic among physique photo collectors thanks

 to Dave Martin's good use of it.  The model this time was Gary Dexter.

 

Skinny Dipper Day

It's skinny dipper day, and we kick off the set with a guy on a rocky lake shore.

 

Pet Rock

This guy seems to have anticipated the pet rock craze by decades.

Our final couple are all over each other and quite happy about it.

 

Grin on a rock

Although he couldn't be too comfortable perched on that rock,

our model has managed to give us a smile.

 

Early 20th Century

Today we will go back a hundred years or more for some early 20th Century photos.

We start with a man about to throw a rock into a flooded quarry/swimming hole.

 

Unknown by Denfield

This Denny Denfield photo of an unknown bearded model has always impressed me.

Not only is the bearded male rare for the 1950s, but the setting is spectacular.

 

Happy guy

It certainly couldn't have been comfortable sitting on those rocks,

but this FKK man seems quite happy about something.

 

Take a closer look

At first glance, I thought, "Why did Roy Dean let the model get swallowee up by the setting?"

Upon closer examination, however, I have decided that it really works, and I like it.

This unidentified Davis model looks good among the rocks.

 

Rick Storm

Posed on the diagonal with sandals on a rock, Rick Storm looks uncomfortable.

Maybe that rock was hot and burning his backside.
