20th Century France, Part 2 - the Homoerotic Art of Rene Bollinger

Rene Bollinger (1911-1971) was a French artist whose homoerotic drawings have a unique style.  Our Friday art will feature some of his works, mostly from the 1960's.

I've seen very similar poses in 19th Century French Academic art work and wonder if Bollinger was consciously emulating it.  Disclosure:  I used digital enhancement to increase the contrast.

There's something quite engaging about the interplay of the two men in this drawing by Bollinger.

This Bollinger trio seems to have figured out a catchy interlocking way to grab each other.

Bollinger had a number of gallery exhibitions of his drawings of horses, and we can still find them today on art resale websites.  In this case he combined a horse and a man for an impressive effect.
