Barbecki, 1914
Polish artist Boleslaw Barbecki did this academic piece in 1914.
Utterly haunting, as he stares at us from 110 years ago, yet quite contemporary. He's getting uncomfortable, hunched back, neck twist and blood pooling in his legs and feet.
This looks to be the same model and props as the one by Klimowski.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the comment above, that this and the previous study (by Klimowski) were done at the same drawing session.
ReplyDeleteSame guy indeed, and I was pretty sure someone would notice. The years don't match, but I that's likely an error from somewhere down the line.

ReplyDeleteWell, that explains the look.
DeleteThis one stands out for me, I like the quietness that I feel when looking at it.
