Barbecki, 1914


Polish artist Boleslaw Barbecki did this academic piece in 1914.
The model appears to be glaring at us.

  2. I agree with the comment above, that this and the previous study (by Klimowski) were done at the same drawing session.

    1. Same guy indeed, and I was pretty sure someone would notice. The years don't match, but I that's likely an error from somewhere down the line.

  3. Utterly haunting, as he stares at us from 110 years ago, yet quite contemporary. He's getting uncomfortable, hunched back, neck twist and blood pooling in his legs and feet.
