Art

Closing the set with a quickly made Lalaing study that has artistic appeal on two levels.
First, the lighting is subtle but effective, and second, the model's pose is pure art itself.

  1. The pose is remarkable, and must have been difficult to hold.

    1. Some artists of that era used photographs to save money, but given Lalaing's well to do background, I think he used them to capture difficult poses.

    2. It is utterly beautiful. Perhaps it's just me, but on attempting, the "killer" bit is the head position.

  3. His sculptures are sublime and these photos are extraordinary. A surreal quality that is almost timeless. His Waterloo Memorial at the Brussels Cemetery is splendid.
