Kovert

Freddie Kovert makes the list with David DeBorges,
a model of whom I have recently become fond.

Heavy oil doesn't really detract from this shot, does it?

Ah, yes! The usual heavy dose of oil on the model. It was practically a trademark.

I'm not a fan of the heavy use of oil but it would take a lot to detract me from the lovely David DeBorges. Nice to see him featured again. He's becoming a favourite of mine.

True.

I could do with less, but you're right.

He's really nice, even if he looks like he fell into a vat of grease.

Doesn't look that way in other pictures.

Stunning. Yes, in theory, way too much oil. Yet, it still works. Personally, I think it does for these reasons. It's in black and white. Unless on a plain ground, highly oiled physiques photographed in colour can look, well, greasy. David is young and has a defined, yet slim body. Further more, this gives him a bit of the appearance of a nude male youth work by Cellini. Beyond polished marble or bronze, almost glass like.

I hadn't thought about the color vs. black and white element, and yes, he does look like polished marble.
