Color
Bruce used color here and the magazine caption describes
That usual surprise when one sees a model in colour for the first time. Hair colour, skin tones, that dark bush. But wow, those abs. As ever, totally relaxed posing nude before the camera.
An interesting and very tricky pose to do. It should, and would, look awkward with us mere mortals. Bringing his buttocks close to his hand helps. Lots of weight on that unsupported right arm and shoulder. He's powerful, but quite top-heavy. Pulling up using his left arm. Also, using those very strong abdominals to make the whole thing look effortless. He is very, very good.
Charles Zumwalt one of the better physique models. I wonder if he posed for any of the other physique photographers of that golden time. Most of Bruce Bellas' work is in B&W, but he also did color photos. I think at that time he would offer 2 indoor photosets and 2 outdoor photosets of his models, and 1 color photoset to every 2 B&W photosets. (as well as color slides). -Rj in the IE
Herr Zumwalt, sieht auf diesem Farbfoto so unglaublich aus. Ein atemberaubende Konfektion fur Manner durch die Linse von Herr Bellas. Die US-Marines schienen einige gut gebaute Manner anzuziehen: 'who can roll with the punches'. -austriche
Man, he is a beautiful male. His expression is relaxed and friendly...I wish I could have met him. He seems like a nice guy.
ReplyDeleteHe does present a very approachable demeanor.
DeleteHe did indeed have a very harmonious physique. Not a steroid in sight.
ReplyDeleteYes, Julian, natural and perfectly proportioned.

ReplyDeleteI agree with all that, plus something tells me that this isn't the easiest pose to get into and hold.

DeleteThanks for confirming my assumption about the pose being not the easiest.

All the photos of Mr. Z in my collection are by Bruce, whose color work isn't as recognized as some such as Denny Denfield's, but is good nonetheless.

There was a steady stream of Marines willing to model for the physique photographers in the golden age and beyond.
