Contrast
I think this is an excellent photo. It captures a charming scene, is technically good for the situation, and the contrast between the clothed and nude men is almost startling.
My favourite in a delightful series for all the reasons you mention, Jerry. What I love about the photos in this series is how comfortable the men are with their own bodies and being naked with others. I don't wish to appear naive or to hark back to an idealised past - when clearly so many things are better today - but the natural feel and lack of overt sexualisation captured here is delightful.

I'm glad you enjoyed the series, Peter, and I certainly agree with you about the overall tone of the scene.
DeleteThe clothes make me think 1910-1920. I wonder if the rowers and the swimmers took turns? Dee Exx
ReplyDeleteI agree about the date, and wondered the same thing about taking turns.
DeleteMost likely when they got to the "location" all romped nude rogether.
DeleteIs it a hired boat and the clothed pair are the paid crew?
ReplyDeleteI think they are too well dressed to be hired rowers. Probably friends of the swimmers.
DeleteNice contrast between the male bodies and the darker background. The clothed men seem as comfortable as the naked ones.
ReplyDeleteYeah, everybody looks at ease.
