Edward Hopper (1882-1967) was one of the most highly acclaimed American artists of his time,
and today we will look at some of his male nude sketches, paintings, and studies. That's a self
portrait above, and below we have one of his better known works, 1942's Nighthawks.

ReplyDeleteJust curious was there ever a female sculpture or photographer of male nudes. This photo evokes a good story.
ReplyDeleteYes, there have been quite quite a few female photographers of male nudes.
DeleteI had a rather large print of this in the early 1980's, I loved it's streamlined coolness. Of course it has been copied by other artists depicting figures such as Monroe and Dean at the counter. The original is still the best rendering. Classic.
ReplyDeleteIt's a priceless piece of Americana from better times.
