 "New" Material in the Pipeline

Thanks to an actual physical donation of a sizeable archive of Physique Pictorial and Kensington Road publications by the amazingly generous Bill D. of California, I will soon be featuring some of Bob Mizer and Bruce Bellas' works that many of you may not have seen before.  I have cranked up my scanner for the first time in years to make digital versions of these.  Look for the first series in a week or so.  In the meantime, I am asking for your input as to what sort you'd like to see.  So far I have groupings with sufficient images to do cover men, motorcyclists, bad boys, ne'er-do-wells, art, and wrestling.  And I have to say that getting to know Bill better has been an added bonus.  He's quite the fine man.

Today's theme is amateur photos from the beaches.

From the looks of those tan lines, these two may have ditched their suits just for the photo.

This older man looks German, but that's just a hunch.

 

Bad hair day

I don't think that's going to help his hair much, but whatever.

 

Mr. Paul Gerrior, aka Ledermeister

Paul Elroy Gerrior (1933-2021) was better known to his fans as Ledermeister.  An Army Veteran, he went on to work for Pacific Bell for 25 years, during which he modeled and acted in local theater groups.  His claim to fame was his work for Colt, and he remains popular even today.  Do a Google Images search, and you'll see him in a variety of settings.  He was one fine model.

 

Biker Ledermeister

Paul Gerrior's Bay Area obituary unflinchingly described him as a pioneering nude model who epitomized the mature, masculine male.  I don't think anyone will argue with that.

Cowboy

Ledermeister posed as a cowboy on several occasions during his career at Colt.

If you look closely at the tree trunk, you'll see that it's charred from a fire.

 

Home series

This is part of a series that was shot in a nice California home.  His body hair is subdued, 

and I can't figure out if it's the photography, or they somehow thinned it.

 

Two views

This composite I found on line shows Paul Gerrior at the peak of his modeling career in the 1970s and again later in life.  He would have been in his 40s in his heyday, and I find that remarkable.  He kept on acting in community theater into his 80s and married his longtime partner when it became possible.

Rest in Peace, Herr Ledermeister.

 

Frank Collier by any other name

Today we look at the work of Frank Collier, a talented photographer who, as you will see, worked under a number of similar trade names.  We start with Ron Cuspard and a knife that might be a bayonette.

 

Alex I

The muscles in this photo of Alex Pilin just jump off the page.

 

Bob

I can't tell if this Collier photo of Bob Hille is a composite or a double exposure.

Either way, I think the photographer may have been inspired by Douglas of Detroit.

 

Fred

The magazine caption (from page 50) says that Fred Kingston was 

19 when this was made.  He looks considerably older to me, though.

 

Hank

This photo of Hank Harper was done by Frank Collier under his Artcraft marque.

I've seen his work listed by his name, Artcraft, Art Kraft Dezign, ,Art Dezign, 

and just Dezign.  Some of those could be modern misspellings, though.

 

"Bugs"

I think the intense contrast lighting was intentional in this 

Frank Collier photo of Sheldon "Bugs" Deal.

 

Andy

Andy McCullar (along with his muscles and tan lines) looks great here, despite the upper part of the picture being garishly overlighted.  We get some recompense, however, from the lower part, where we see a fine patch of thatch and even a good look at the hair on his inner thighs.

 

Don

Don Len was another model who apparently didn't pose frontally 

nude for Frank Collier, but he still manages to be impressive.
