Today is a rare day where I am featuring a female artist, Annie Leibovitz.
Her photography is exceptional, and she is best know for her work with celebrities.

I would not have guessed that this Annie Leibovits photo is of Sylvester Stallone.

Annie Leibovita did an amazing 1985 photo shoot with Sting
on a dry lake bed at Lucerne, California.
Allen Ginsberg
It was this 1969 photo of Allen Ginsberg that helped Annie Leibovitz get the job as Rolling Stone magazine's main photographer. I scandalized my rural Texas high school that same year
by doing my Senior Honors English term paper on Mr. Ginsberg's work.

Body Typing Studies
Dr. William Sheldon put forth the now completely discredited theory that delinquency and other traits were associated with body types. He described these as endomorphs, mesomorphs, and ectomorphs as shown above, and he concluded that mesomorphs were most likely to be criminals. Although the three photos in this post frequently show up in online articles about Sheldon's work, he did not take them, nor did he use them in his work. They are by a Prof. Shuttlesworth.
St. Mary's College Pre-flight School
Miles M. Glidden was born and raised in California and had some pronounced tan lines when he was photographed at St. Mary's College Pre-flght School. Sadly, he was killed in action in the Soloman Islands in 1944, having been awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross. Rest in Peace.
I'm including these somber bits because while we enjoy seeing these military photos,
the young men in them put their lives on the line and sometimes lost them.

Here is another pair of the Estonians that Larry K. and "a friend in San Francisco" sent me.
We've pretty much decided these men were military recruits, but a bit of uncertainty remains.

Presumably the whole file
This St. Mary's Pre-filght School Cadet, S.R. Barstad, is one of a very few individuals for
whom both the photograph and accompanying measurements files are available on line.
In a few cases, there are even before and after photo sets, but not in Cadet Barstad's instance.
Ivy League
For some reason, almost all of the Ivy League posture study photos
that I've been able to find on my own have been Yale students.
St. Mary's Cropped
I really like this cadet in a St. Mary's Pre-Flight School shot
where someone cropped out the date and name. He looks sturdy.
