Academic Art Day

We haven't had an academic art series for quite a while, 

so I'll start one with this drawing by Lefevre from 1871.

 

1881

The date, 1881, is easy to read, but not the signature.  Anyone?

 

Alex Bafcop

I couldn't find a date for this one by Alex Bafcop,

but it certainly looks 19th Century.

 

Ernest Hebert

I really like this one by Ernest Hebert, and I can't exactly say why.

 

Theodore Krause

Even the cushion is beautifully done in this drawing by Theodore Krause.

 

Camille Pissarro

It was 1850 when the great Camille Pissarro did this drawing of a hefty man.

This is not what one expects, and I'd really like to see more of this model.

 

Albert Robida

Albert Robida completed this in 1867.

 

Unknown

I have neither a name nor a date for this one,

which is sad because it's beautifully done.

 

Theodore Robinson

A model posed as a boxer for Theodore Robinson in 1875.

 

Christian Schussele

Our closing drawing is by Christian Schussels from 1876.

 

Shower Time

It's shower time, and we start the show with the largest group of the day.

The tall guy's clog sandals make him look even taller.

 

Outdoor I

Both the shower apparatus and the setting are rustic

in the first of three outdoor photos in today's set.

Not that he has that much to show, mind you, but the guy at right

 managed to be a showoff despite the shower stall partitions.

His friend is a bit more subtle.

 

Outdoor II

These fellows are doing two at once with their rigged outdoor shower.

 

Built

While we certain wish for more, this well built guy is pleasant to look at.

 

Eric Lesh

This looked vintage, but when I researched it, I found out it is by Eric Lesh,

a currently active artist.  I'm posting it anyway because I like it.

Outdoor III

Our third outdoor photo is my favorite of the day.  Not only is the rig inventive,

but the subject is checking out and washing his important bits.
