Study for Satyr


This is a study for the satyr component of Klimt's 1886-87 wall painting, The Altar of Dionysos.  
It is located above one of the main staircases at the Burgtheater in Vienna, and it is one 
of those occasions where the study is better than the finished work, shown below.

    Jawohl, seine Satyrzeichnung ist die Beste. Es besitzt eine ätherische Qualität. :)
    Eine fantastische Sammlung von Klimts Zeichnungen kann in der Albertina in Wien besichtigt werden. (“)

      I did view the Albertina collection. Nearly all on display were women, but of course the skill was evident.

    How extraordinary! It has been awhile since I have seen the finished work, but the study is better by far!
