Greg R. of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma sent in a request for more men in gym shorts, and I am happy to oblige. This time, I am going with mostly championship level throwing event men from track and field. We start with W.F. Roos, a Yale shot put and hammer throw star from about 1910.

A stunning specimen. A fairly light build for shot put and hammer.
ReplyDeleteWhile researching this series, your observation on the size of early 20th C. field athletes was the first thing I noticed. Even at the Olympic level, more than a few men built like Mr. Roos were winners. Of course, there were some hefties who did well, too.
